One of the elements of the wedding day (or I guess I should say process) I could attend is the wedding rehearsal. It’s a great chance to meet with the bride, groom, their parents, friends and close family. It also gives you a chance to maybe give some helpful input on the day – especially for outdoor weddings. I was asked to photograph the rehearsal and subsequent dinner for Kate & Wes for their Coker Arboretum Wedding.
We arrived there well before the guests to scope out the area and get ideas on where the ceremony would be. There is a large field that was reserved but after looking at the lighting and the surroundings, we recommended they have the ceremony in front of the large tree in the center which would keep their guests in the shade, keep the background gorgeous and have plenty of room for everyone attending.
After the rehearsal, we headed over to Maggiano’s in Durham where Wes’s Mother had setup a really great ECU themed dinner. You can see from the below photos she really did a wonderful job on keeping the central theme (ECU & Pirates, the ECU mascot) going throughout every element – including a treasure map seating chart, crystal skull liquor centerpiece, a pirate ship grooms cake and treasure chest chocolates at every table setting. I had a wonderful time both photographing the dinner as well as meeting all of their family and friends. By the time of their wedding, having photographed their engagement session and rehearsal dinner, I felt I was literally just an extension of their friends & family, which is the highest compliment a client can ever pay me.
I hope you enjoy a few photos from Kate & Wes’s rehearsal.
