I love shooting engagement sessions with my clients. One of the first questions I always ask (and typically the hardest one) is where should we shoot? With Kate & Wes, I asked that very question and we were unsure of “where” we should actually go. To be honest, I actually love it when this happens. It allows me to find out more about them and choose a location with a widely varying look and feel. After talking, we decided to head into downtown Durham near the Carolina Theatre. The area has a plethora of varying scenes, from urban to elegant and we certainly used them all!
Kate & Wes brought a couple of clothing changes as we opted to do a “walkabout” for the session and just finding cool places the city had to offer. We honestly had a blast and we ended up in places that, if you had told me I’d be shooting there, I’d of called you crazy (like under a staircase in a parking garage). We ended up back at the Carolina Theater and got a few of my favorites shots of the year there to close out their session.
