You may recognize Sara & Chad from their Washington DC engagement session I shot earlier this year. Even though they live in DC, they opted for a Bay 7 Wedding in Durham, NC as it’s closer to their family and friends. As it turns out, Chad is a bona-fide rocket scientist (no kidding) and was taking a job with Space X in California so everything being held in this area made a lot of sense.
Many couples utilize Bay 7 as the reception only space but Chad & Sarah fell in love with the architecture and surrounding American Tobacco campus and opted to have both their wedding ceremony and reception here. One of the amenities which makes this space so unique is there is an upstairs area completely isolated from the downstairs making for a seamless transition from ceremony to cocktail hour. This makes any Bay 7 wedding flow tremendously well and maximizes the time you spend with your guests.
Their wedding was absolutely gorgeous and even though it rained that evening, we had plenty of opportunities to get some amazing wedding photos on the campus. During cocktail hour, Sarah & Chad had bought 2 bicycles that needed to be assembled. So instead of just milling about during the cocktail hour, their guests assembled the bicycles. After the wedding they were donated to a local shelter in Durham. Definitely one of the coolest ideas I have seen at a wedding.
