I really enjoy shooting engagement sessions and my latest clients, Sarah & Troy, had theirs done at Yates Mill Pond in Raleigh, NC. This is one of my favorite places to photograph and I certainly have gotten to know my way around a bit. My lovely clients were up for anything so we ended up walking around the entire lake, grabbing some great shots along the way and discovering yet new spots to come back to. This place is very unique in it having an actual working grist mill at the park that, on weekends, is operating and you can purchase corn meal from. Maybe it’s just me but I think that is a pretty cool thing.
With it being fall, the skies are a beautiful blue, the trees are full of color and spending an afternoon photographing an equally wonderful wedding client was really why I love this job so much. Yates Mill Pond is also a wildlife refuge so animals aren’t allowed but it does give you the opportunity to catch some cool wildlife. Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on your viewpoint), nothing made an appearance during our engagement session so we focused primarily on my lovely clients.
It seems a lot of my clients have evening weddings so it was a wonderful change to work outdoors using natural light and just a little of my own. I hope you enjoy a select few choices from Sarah & Troys engagement session at Yates Mill Pond!
