Ever since it’s opening, shooting a 21C Hotel in Durham wedding has been on my photographer “bucket” list for quite some time. With its amazing Pop art gallery, the bank vault in the basement, amazing hotel rooms and a great staff, this wedding was something I had been looking forward to for some time! Not to mention there are pink penguins floating around the hotel and you will find them in the oddest places at times (one greeted us in the elevator, lol).
Both Kristen & Dak got ready at the 21c Hotel before taking a limo over to the amazing Duke Chapel in Durham for their wedding ceremony. There is a joke about me getting my mail at Duke Chapel because I shoot there quite often, lol. The pace for a wedding there is brisk, but actually gives us plenty of time to photograph the bride getting ready, the portraits of both the bride/Bridemaids and Groom/Groomsmen before the wedding ceremony. We were blessed to have beautiful weather for their wedding so the outside portraits in the arcades and in front of the chapel turned out beautiful!
We headed back to the 21C Hotel in Durham after the wedding and photographed more portraits in the bank vault, one of which won an Wedisson award earlier this year. The reception was absolutely phenomenal. The couple brought in full stage lighting for the entire room and they had a full band playing. Things got a little, umm, randy, after the ceremony so I hope you enjoy a hella fun set of photos from Kristen & Dak’s wedding!
